Amid the accelerating trends of electrification, platform-based production, and flexible manufacturing in the automotive industry, component manufacturers are facing a profound transformation of their manufacturing systems. This project is a systematic initiative carried out against this industry backdrop.

The project will follow the principles of “holistic planning, phased implementation, data-driven operations, and continuous improvement”, focusing on key scenarios such as production execution, equipment data, and smart logistics, to build a forward-looking smart factory platform and lay the foundation for a replicable and scalable benchmark digital factory.

Holistic Digital Planning for Multi-Process Manufacturing

As an important manufacturer in the automotive interior materials sector, the client operates production processes that combine both process-oriented and discrete manufacturing. This requires higher standards for production coordination, logistics execution, quality management, and delivery stability.

Through preliminary discussions and multiple rounds of on-site investigations, both parties systematically reviewed:

  • Production planning and execution coordination

  • Equipment data collection and OEE improvement

  • Line-side logistics and AGV automation

  • System integration (ERP, DingTalk, etc.)

  • Phased smart factory roadmap

This resulted in a “holistic planning, phased implementation” approach for building the smart factory.

One Data Foundation, Three Core Business Lines: Overall Smart Factory Architecture

The project centers on the LinkedData smart factory data foundation, unifying data models and technical architecture. On this basis, three key business lines will be developed:

  • Supply chain and planning

  • Order delivery and shop floor execution

  • Closed-loop quality management

By integrating MES, IoT, and other core systems through a platform-based approach, the project avoids traditional siloed system construction and reserves sufficient space for future expansion of AGV scheduling, APS, QMS, WMS, and other systems, ensuring data consistency, business connectivity, and continuous evolution.

Phase One Focus: MES + IoT Collaboration

Phase One Focus: MES + IoT Collaboration

In Phase One, the focus will be on building core capabilities that are visible on the shop floor, operationally usable, and data-capturable.

Equipment data collection and OEE improvement

Through the implementation of MES + IoT, the client will achieve significant improvements in production execution efficiency, equipment utilization, and OEE, while making line-side logistics and material flow more transparent and controllable.

With a unified data foundation and platform architecture, production planning, order delivery, and quality management will achieve high coordination, reducing manual intervention and management blind spots.

In the automotive component industry, a smart factory is not a “one-off construction” project. Based on the Phase One work, both parties have planned the subsequent stages, including:

  • Deeper production planning and coordination capabilities

  • Systematic integration of quality management

  • Further automation of logistics and shop floor execution

All these capabilities will be built on the current platform and data foundation, progressing step by step to gradually release value.

Data as the Starting Point: Building a Continuously Evolving Smart Factory

The project kickoff not only marks the beginning of system construction but also represents deep collaboration in lean philosophy, data-driven methodology, and smart manufacturing practices.

LinkedData will continue to uphold its mission of “creating zero-loss industrial manufacturing”, leveraging its smart factory foundation and industry expertise to work with the client in advancing data-driven manufacturing operations, creating a reference-worthy smart factory model for the automotive components sector.
