As a crucial direction for the transformation and upgrading of China’s automotive industry, new energy vehicles are reshaping the industry chain structure with exponential growth. OEMs are placing higher demands on parts suppliers for flexibility, visibility, and high quality. Achieving on-time delivery, rapid response, and stable quality in the face of uncertainties has become a core competitive advantage for parts manufacturers.
A certain new energy vehicle Tier 1 (hereinafter referred to as “the Supplier”) is a core subsidiary of a listed group specializing in light alloy materials, with a focus on automotive component manufacturing. Its main products include profile-based integrated parts, serving many OEMs and Tier 1 customers, including Li Auto, BMW, and Audi.
The Supplier is equipped with a full range of processes, including CNC, stamping, bending, tooth cutting, cold extrusion, spinning, welding (MIG/TIG/FSW), press riveting, clinching, adhesive coating, SPR, FDS, anodizing, heat treatment, and ultrasonic cleaning. It provides structural components for vehicle bodies, chassis, and battery packs, effectively meeting the industry’s high-end and one-stop needs.
The Supplier’s Automotive Products
In recent years, the Supplier has seized the opportunities presented by the new energy vehicle industry, actively expanding into the market for electric vehicle parts, and continuously enhancing its smart manufacturing and operations management capabilities, aiming for high-quality growth in the new round of industry competition.
Against this backdrop, the Supplier partnered with LinkedData to launch the “Manufacturing Operations Management System” (MOM) project, leveraging LinkedData’s expertise in the automotive parts industry and MOM capabilities. The project aimed to build a digital factory system with real-time awareness, agile response, and continuous optimization abilities, covering multiple dimensions such as planning, execution, quality, equipment, and data.
MOM Core Functions Overview
Key functions include:
Building a unified platform architecture and service system to support efficient system operation, flexible expansion, and cross-module integration, providing a solid foundation for future smart manufacturing advancements.
Bridging the gap between production planning and on-site execution, covering critical processes such as work order issuance, material input, process traceability, and packaging shipment. The system tracks all elements (people, machines, materials, methods) with work orders and serial numbers at its core, enhancing transparency and collaboration through real-time monitoring and response to production anomalies, thus boosting output stability and continuous improvement.
Real-time equipment status collection, automatic dispatch of maintenance plans, improving equipment utilization and reducing downtime to support stable operations of key equipment.
Managing the entire quality control process from incoming materials to production, automatically identifying issues and linking actions for quick problem-solving and traceable resolutions, contributing to zero-defect deliveries.
Integrating key equipment with data collection systems to monitor operational status, downtime causes, and output data in real time. The system automatically calculates OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) and identifies abnormal trends, providing data for equipment maintenance and takt time optimization.
With the Supplier’s customer need for “visualized operations” management, a multi-layered data dashboard was constructed to support managers in real-time monitoring of production status, efficiency, and anomalies, thus enhancing operational transparency and response speed.
The system has completed the development and deployment of major modules and is set to begin trial operations soon. It aims to achieve the following transformation results focused on key capabilities such as equipment stability, quality control, production efficiency, and precise traceability:
✅ Full-process production visibility, with more timely responses to production plan changes and more stable and efficient production rhythms.
✅ Real-time equipment status collection, steady improvement in utilization, and more proactive maintenance.
✅ Timely response to quality anomalies, traceable issues, and processes, ensuring the implementation of the “zero-defect” goal.
✅ Transparent order process and node visibility, meeting the high demands of customers for process transparency and verifiability.
✅ Creation of a replicable and scalable digital operations platform, providing a model for multi-factory collaboration within the group.
In March 2025, to strengthen digital collaboration with OEMs, a leading new energy vehicle manufacturer visited the Supplier’s facility for the “Daily Visit Series: Digital Business Exchange” event. As the technical partner for the Supplier’s MOM system, LinkedData fully participated in and supported the event, providing a live demonstration by relocating its future factory production line to the Supplier’s workshop.
The demonstration, which focused on the “zero-defect” manufacturing concept, showcased key processes such as robotic material feeding, laser engraving, digital twins, and robotic material unloading. It highlighted the system’s capabilities in equipment collaboration, data transparency, error-proofing, and full-process traceability.
The team from the leading new energy vehicle manufacturer showed great interest in the application of the future factory production line. Key moments from the live demonstration were featured in an exchange video published by the manufacturer, adding depth to the technical dialogue during the event.
